PAC Math Tutoring
The PAC invites any current members to participate with the Portland Actuarial Club math mentoring program at Boise-Eliot school.
The schedule for 2010-2011 is for remedial tutoring for 6th graders from 1 - 2 pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays, since Wednesday and Friday often have shortened days or holidays.
The commitment for a "regular" volunteer is once every two weeks through December 2010 (roughly 5 sessions). B-E operates on trimesters, but I think the winter break is the easiest breakpoint for us. There are openings for both 'regular' and 'alternates'. Our first sessions will be the week of Sept 27.

| Where: | The Benson Hotel 309 Southwest Broadway Portland, OR 97205 |
| Description: | The annual awards dinner for high achieving high school math students will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Benson Hotel. We have extended invitations to over 40 students from western Oregon. Volunteers are needed to develop activities and/or discussion questions for the evening. In '07, '08 and ‘09 we had actuarial trivia questions that provided good dinner conversation. If you have any feedback on last year's format and/or ideas for this year, please send them my way! We look forward to hearing from you. |
| Additional Notes: | PR opportunity for your firm: Firms making special contributions (time, money or materials) and firms with members attending will be acknowledged from the podium. All member firms will be posted. If your firm has little marketing “giveaways” (pens, sticky notes, yoyo’s, etc.), we will be happy to distribute those items. Seating will be at assigned tables. We absolutely need to have at least one actuary at each table. Name tags for actuaries will be a different color than for guests, so it will be easier for guests to identify us. Your attendance will have no direct impact on the cost to your company. As in previous years, the cost of the dinner will be divided proportionally among all firms with club membership. |
